Photoshop Layers An Introduction
Photoshop Layers are an important element in Adobe Photoshop. While making any project design in Adobe Photoshop is very difficult or impossible without layers. It is mandatory to use a layer to successfully a beautiful design. Photoshop Layers help designers to make designs easily, it helps to designer manipulate the objects efficiently. The designer uses layers to apply different types of styles, effects, filters, etc.
What is a layer:
In Adobe Photoshop layer is a transparent page. Used for place and image, creating text, shapes, etc. One can see through the object that exists behind a layer until anything is placed in this layer.
Types of Layer:
In Photoshop there are five types of layers:
- Raster Layer
- Shape Layer
- Type Layer
- Smart Object Layer
- Adjustment Layer
Raster Layer:
The raster layer is the default Photoshop layer. Since Photoshop is a raster-based application most of the Photoshop features work with this type of layer. To create a new raster layer press Ctrl+Shift+N, or go to the layer menu in the menu bar Layer>New>Layer or Click the Create New Layer Button. Any type of layer can be converted into a raster layer at any time in Photoshop if required.
Shape Layer: The shape layer is a vector layer in Photoshop. The shape layer is used for creating any vector shape in Photoshop. The shapes are created with a pen tool takes place on the shape layer. The shape option has to be selected from the tool control panel under the Photoshop menu bar when using the pen tool.
Type layer: In Photoshop for typing anything or creating text designers use a type layer. Generally in Photoshop when needed to type anything the type layer has to take. If the type tool is taken and the initial type tool is in the Photoshop document, the type layer is automatically created in the layer panel.
Smart Object Layer: When an image or picture is placed from the file menu this image or picture automatically takes place in a layer which is a smart object layer. A raster layer, shape layer, and type layer also can be converted into a smart object layer. The smart object layer is also converted into the raster layer.
Adjustment Layer: The adjustment layer is used for controlling the color or image tone of the image. The reason for using an adjustment layer is to control the color of an image without damaging the original image.
Finally, we can say that layer is such kind of part of Photoshop that cannot be overlooked or avoided. If someone wants to work with Photoshop must understand the behavior nature and working procedure of layers.
